Itinerary in Detail

Day 1 | Welcome to Belize – Caves Branch Jungle Lodge

Arrive at Belize City International Airport and enjoy a scenic two-hour drive to Caves Branch in the Cayo District. Nestled in dense rainforest, Caves Branch Jungle Lodge is a true eco-luxury base for your Belize jungle and reef adventure. Sleep high in the trees in open-air suites featuring rooftop decks, outdoor showers, and jungle sounds. Meals are family-style and include fresh local juices and Belizean cocktails. Overnight at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge.

Day 2 | Caves Branch – Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave

Today, explore one of Belize’s most sacred underground sites: Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM) Cave. First, hike through the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and swim into the cave entrance. Inside, navigate passageways that lead to a cathedral where Maya artifacts and sacrificial remains still rest. This demanding yet awe-inspiring excursion is a cornerstone of your Belize jungle and reef adventure. Overnight at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge.

Day 3 and 4 | Choose Your Jungle Thrills

Over the next two days, customize your experience with jungle adventure. Whether tubing seven miles underground, rappelling into the Black Hole Drop, or exploring ruins like Xunantunich, you’ll feel the adrenaline. Alternatively, take it slow—visit the botanical gardens, lounge in the hot tub, or enjoy a rainforest massage. One full-day guided adventure is included. Overnights at Caves Branch Jungle Lodge.

Day 5 | From Jungle to Island – Ray Caye Resort

After breakfast, depart Caves Branch and travel the scenic Hummingbird Highway to Placencia. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch in town and then board a 3:00 p.m. boat to Ray Caye Island Resort. This private island paradise offers beachfront tranquility and a luxurious base for your reef portion of the Belize jungle and reef adventure. Spend the afternoon unwinding by the pool or snorkeling off the beach. Overnight at Ray Caye Island Resort.

Day 6, 7 and 8 | Snorkel the Belize Barrier Reef

Over the next three days, dive into Belize’s marine magic. Enjoy guided snorkeling at Turtle Alley and Laughing Bird Caye National Park. Swim alongside turtles, rays, and tropical fish.

Turtle Alley Snorkel: Just a 10-minute boat ride from Ray Caye, this renowned spot offers encounters with loggerhead turtles, stingrays, and nurse sharks. The shallow, clear waters make it ideal for all experience levels. A park fee of $10 may apply onsite.

Laughing Bird Caye National Marine Park: Take a 2.5- to 3-hour snorkeling excursion through vibrant coral ecosystems. Learn from expert guides about marine life, coral restoration efforts, and the reef’s ecological importance.

Between excursions, relax with complimentary resort amenities like kayaks, paddleboards, Hobie Cats, and snorkeling gear—or simply soak in the views. Overnights at Ray Caye Island Resort.

Day 9 | Return to Belize International Airport

Savor your last Caribbean sunrise before boarding a boat to Placencia. Then, take a short domestic flight back to Belize City for your international connection. Reflect on a Belize jungle and reef adventure that touched every corner of your spirit.

IS CAVES BRANCH RIGHT FOR YOU?
