Welcome to Mexico!  Upon arrival at Los Cabos International Airport, clear customs and meet your private guide, who will then transfer you to the hospitality area. From there, embark on a 2.5-hour overland journey to Sierra de las Cacachilas, where you’ll enjoy stunning Baja landscape views and a preview of your upcoming adventure.

Nestled in this remote mountain range, Rancho Cacachilas is a sanctuary for unique desert flora and fauna found nowhere else on Earth. After arriving, your Tour Leader will provide an informative orientation, followed by settling into your comfortable glamping tent and a leisurely nature walk. To cap off the day, enjoy a delightful dinner and captivating stargazing under the exceptionally clear skies. The tour will commence at SJD Airport at 12:00 p.m. on Day 1. To accommodate potential delays or cancellations, we recommend arriving a day in advance. Should you require assistance, we would be happy to help arrange additional overnight accommodations for your extended stay.  If you prefer to arrive on Day 1, please ensure your flight arrives no later than 10:00 a.m., allowing ample time to reach our designated meeting point at the airport by 11:30 a.m.  You can also book flights to La Paz via LAX with Alaska Airlines.

The day begins with a delightful breakfast, setting the perfect tone for the adventure ahead.

Next, choose from three exciting activities: hiking, mule riding, or mountain biking. Note that mountain biking is best suited for intermediate and advanced riders. No matter your choice, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Sierra de las Cacachilas and Baja’s enchanting desert landscapes.

Afterward, enjoy a ranch-to-table lunch, followed by another chance to explore. You can either pick a second activity or simply relax by the pool with a good book.

As evening approaches, immerse yourself in the region’s legendary sunsets. Later, bond with fellow travelers and guides over friendly games under the stars. Finally, savor a delicious regional dinner before retiring to your glamping tent.  Overnight at Rancho Cacachilas Glamping.  Learn how conservation groups protect Baja’s unique biodiversity.

After breakfast, embark on a 45-minute scenic drive to La Paz, the vibrant capital of Baja California Sur, where tourism and local culture blend seamlessly. This coastal city serves as the gateway to the Sea of Cortez.

Upon arrival in La Paz, you’ll board a boat for a 1.5-hour ride to Espíritu Santo Island National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its pristine ecosystem. When you reach Los Islotes—a rugged seamount north of the island—get ready to snorkel alongside a playful colony of chocolate-furred sea lions. These agile creatures, some weighing up to 600 pounds, dart through the water with surprising grace. Take time to observe their social antics and explore the island’s sculpted coves and dramatic rock formations.

Afterward, enjoy a beach picnic lunch in this paradise-like setting, followed by free time to relax or swim. Later, you’ll return to La Paz, where you can unwind at your hotel or stroll the iconic Malecón. This four-mile waterfront promenade, dotted with sculptures and buzzing with local life, offers a perfect introduction to Baja’s charm.

As evening falls, dine at Casamarte Oyster Bar & Grill, housed in a historic mansion. Here, the focus is on hyper-local ingredients—think just-caught seafood and artisanal cocktails—served in a convivial atmosphere ideal for sharing stories of the day’s adventures.

Kick off your day with a hearty breakfast, then set out on a boat excursion for an exhilarating snorkeling adventure with whale sharks (conditions permitting). These gentle giants—the largest fish species—are often spotted near the island. As you explore, keep an eye out for their distinct underwater “footprints.”

Following this unforgettable encounter, a 30-minute boat transfer brings you to Balandra Beach, renowned for its turquoise waters and pristine beauty. In fact, this protected area ranks among Mexico’s (and the world’s) most stunning beaches. Here, enjoy a picnic lunch, then join your naturalist guide to explore the bay and learn about its unique geology and marine life.

Afterward, return to La Paz by boat and spend the rest of the afternoon at your leisure. Wander through the town’s vibrant murals or stroll along the Malecón, where fiery Sea of Cortez sunsets paint the sky.

Cap off the evening with Mexican haute cuisine at 3 Virgenes Restaurant. Indulge in exquisite steak cuts like the New York strip with risotto, or savor their standout butcher’s board, featuring sumptuous seafood options such as mezquite-grilled octopus.

Start your day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel, then begin your 4-hour journey to San Carlos town on Baja’s Pacific Coast, with two scenic stops along the way. Upon arrival at the charming dock, savor mouthwatering Baja-style fish tacos while soaking in the seaside ambiance.

Here, Mother Nature takes the lead. After lunch, a boat transfer brings you to Magdalena Bay, a wildlife haven where gray whales gather seasonally (mid-January to early March). This tranquil bay serves as their birthing and breeding sanctuary—a true marvel of nature.

Next, embark on a 2-hour whale-watching tour for your first encounter with these majestic giants. Marvel at their 12,000-mile migration journey, made solely to calf in these protected waters—a moment of pure wonder.

Later, return to camp for happy hour and a delicious dinner at the local restaurant. If conditions allow, cap the night with stargazing. Far from light pollution, Baja’s skies reveal the cosmos in all its brilliance, offering a humbling connection to the universe.

Overnight at the Magdalena Bay Camp.  

Start your day with a sunrise walk along the remote coastline, witnessing the breathtaking sunrise over Magdalena Bay and immersing yourself in its pristine beauty.  Amidst a captivating landscape of steep red bluffs and expansive desert beaches, your weeklong adventure continues with a day of play. After another 2-hour whale-watching tour, return to the glamping site for lunch. In the afternoon, you have the freedom to engage in various activities at the luxurious whale camp.

Choose from an afternoon whale-watching tour, sea kayaking through intricate rock formations, exploring hidden coves, or beachcombing along the remote island’s coastline. Bahía Magdalena is a haven for bird enthusiasts, hosting over 100 diverse bird species, including pelicans, frigate birds, red-billed tropicbirds, blue-footed and masked boobies, roadrunners, and elf owls.  Alternatively, equip yourself with binoculars and embark on a remarkable journey, exploring the island and dunes through hiking while spotting this myriad of avian wonders.  Savor an evening cocktail and a delectable meal thoughtfully prepared by our dedicated crew using fresh ingredients.  Overnight at the Magdalena Bay Camp. 

After a hearty breakfast, prepare your luggage for check-out and gear up for another whale-watching session. Following the session, return to San Carlos dock via a 45-minute boat ride, then board a van for a scenic 2-hour journey to Loreto. Arriving in Loreto midafternoon, check in, and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, exploring the charming town of Loreto.  Overnight at Hotel Mision Loreto.

Begin your day with an early breakfast and embark on a historical expedition to Baja’s most significant mission, the San Javier Mission. Journey for three hours through the breathtaking natural landscapes of the Sierra Giganta Mountain range. Explore the remnants of the ancient Jesuit mission, stroll through cobblestone streets, visit fruit orchards, and discover Baja’s oldest olive gardens. Savor authentic Mexican cuisine, highlighting a culinary experience that caters to food enthusiasts.  On the return journey to Loreto, time your drive to capture the region’s best panoramic views. In the late afternoon, return to Loreto and prepare for a farewell dinner with your tour leader at one of the town’s fine restaurants. Overnight at Hotel Mision Loreto. 

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to Baja. A brief 15-minute land transfer brings you to Loreto International Airport for your departure
