Day 1 | Arrival to Colombia, connect with flight to Medellin

Welcome to Colombia!.  Upon arrival to Bogota, fly to Jose Maria Cordova airport in Medellin (flight not included) where you will be greeted by our local guide and transferred to your hotel (45-minute drive).  You will be assisted with the registration procedures.  Rest of the day at leisure to relax before your eagerly awaited adventure.   Overnight at El Cielo Hotel or similar.

Day 2 | Peñol Boulder and Guatape Village

Discover the awe-inspiring Peñol Boulder, a marvel nestled in the outskirts of Medellín. Ascend this 200-meter high (660 feet) monolith with ease, conquering 740 steps to be rewarded with panoramic vistas of lush green mountains and serene blue lakes.  Our journey extends to the charming and most colorful village in Colombia: Guatapé, renowned for its vibrant church and houses adorned with captivating paintings and zocalos (intricate bas-reliefs depicting traditional local scenes). Embark on a picturesque drive through the Eastern Highlands of Antioquia, immersing yourself in the scenic beauty of the region. In addition to conquering the Peñol Boulder, relish a delectable, traditional Colombian lunch along the shores of the Guatapé reservoir.  The adventure continues with a boat ride across the reservoir, offering a unique perspective of the landscape. Take a stroll through the village, allowing time for relaxation amidst the tranquility of Guatapé. This day trip promises a harmonious blend of natural wonders and cultural delights, leaving you with cherished memories of Colombia’s captivating Eastern Highlands.   Overnight at El Cielo Hotel or similar.

Day 3 | Comuna 13, flight to Pereira

Embark on a transformative journey as we ascend through the cityscape via a cable car ride and electric escalators, transporting us to the vibrant streets of Comuna 13. Led by local artists deeply entrenched in the community’s art scene, witness firsthand the remarkable metamorphosis from a tumultuous past of criminality and danger to a future defined by diversity and positivity.  This exploration offers a unique opportunity to delve into the historical and daily dimensions of life in Comuna 13. Engage with the profound narrative woven into the fabric of the community, and discover the pivotal role that street art plays in shaping social communication and identity.  Our guides, intimately acquainted with the area’s evolution, provide insights into how the transformative power of art has not only adorned the streets but has also contributed to the uplifting trajectory of Comuna 13.  This enriching journey goes beyond the surface, offering a deeper connection to the city’s evolving narrative. Delight in a coffee break, an essential Colombian experience, as you absorb the visual tapestry that encapsulates Medellín’s cultural metamorphosis.  Later, our guide will meet you at the lobby of your hotel for a 45-minute transfer to the José María Córdova International Airport for a flight to Pereira (not included).   Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel.  Overnight at Sazagua Boutique Hotel.

Day 4 | Filandia, Cocora Valley and Salento

A captivating journey takes us to the quaint village of Filandia, immersing ourselves in its rich traditions. Our guided tour encompasses key landmarks such as Plaza de Bolívar, colonial streets, and charming houses, offering a glimpse into the town’s cultural tapestry. Indulge in the local liquor at the traditional “fondas” (restaurant-bars) before heading to Quindío’s Viewpoint for a breathtaking panoramic view of the Coffee Triangle.  Continue the adventure with a visit to the awe-inspiring Cocora Valley in the Quindío department, home to Colombia’s national tree—the towering wax palm, reaching up to 190 feet and living over 120 years. Marvel at the valley’s natural splendor, encountering diverse fauna and flora. Upon arrival, savor a typical hot cocktail, “canelazo,” and explore the misty forest while our guide elucidates the importance of preserving this unique ecosystem, providing excellent photo opportunities.  Experience the “Ritual de la Palma,” a meaningful initiative dedicated to preserving the wax palms. Participate in planting future generations of these iconic trees, and even cultivate your own palm for posterity.  Our journey culminates in the charming town of Salento, founded in 1842 and adorned with colonial bahareque architecture. Wander along Calle Real, the vibrant main street lined with restaurants, bars, handicraft shops, and souvenir stores, offering a visual feast of harmonious colors.   Overnight at Sazagua Boutique Hotel.  

Day 5 | Personalized Experience, your choice

Today, we offer you the flexibility to tailor your experience based on your preferences. Choose between Option A or Option B to customize your itinerary and make the most of your day. 

Option #1 San Alberto Coffee Tasting (Risaralda)  Indulge in a private and personalized experience as we embark on a private coffee tour at Hacienda San Alberto. Situated in the picturesque town of Buenavista, just an hour outside Armenia, Hacienda San Alberto is the smallest municipality in Colombia and has been a distinguished producer of premium coffee since the early 1970s. Opening its doors to coffee enthusiasts worldwide, San Alberto offers an exclusive opportunity to delve into the intricate world of coffee production.  Explore the beautiful Hacienda San Alberto during a guided tour, gaining insights into the entire coffee-making process, from bean germination to plantation walks and a visit to the processing plant. Following the immersive tour, partake in an unforgettable experience that engages all your senses: a coffee tasting guided by our experts. This transformative encounter will forever alter your perception of a simple sip, as you learn to discern the nuances and qualities present in a truly exceptional cup of coffee.  Important Note: We recommend refraining from consuming spicy food before the coffee tasting and avoiding the application of perfume on your hands, as these factors may influence your tasting experience. The duration of this trip is approximately 3 to 4 hours plus transfer times.

Option #2 -Otún Quimbaya Wildlife Sanctuary (Risaralda)  Located in the department of Risaralda, the Otún Quimbaya Flora and Fauna Sanctuary is the ideal place to observe wax palms, different species of orchids, a great variety of species of birds, butterflies, and small mammals. Early in the morning, you will be picked up at the hotel to be transferred to the town of La Florida, where you will board a Jeep Willys to go to the Otún Quimbaya Reserve. Upon arrival, you will have a welcome drink and a brief introduction to the destination. Later, you will start two trails with an approximate duration of 3 to 4 hours and a distance of 5 km (. The route has small ascents that offer a panoramic view from the lower part (understory) to the highest part of the forest (canopy) making possible the sighting of birds such as the Pava Caucana, the Toro de Monte, the Soledad de Montaña, the Booted racket-tail, among others.  Upon returning to the refuge, we will have a delicious lunch and free time to enjoy the natural environment.  The duration of this experience is approximately 5 hours plus transfer times. Overnight at Sazagua Boutique Hotel.

Day 6 | Pereira – Cartagena

Private transportation will take you to the airport for the flight to Cartagena de India, Rafael Núñez Airport, here you are met and transferred to your hotel where you will be assisted with your check in.  Nestled in a 17th-century converted monastery, Sofitel Santa Clara captivates with its historic charm, seamlessly blending colonial architecture, modern luxury, and a rich legacy in the heart of Cartagena.  Overnight at Sofitel Santa Clara.  

Day 7 | La Boquilla Mangroves and Typical Dances Workshops

Embark on a private journey to explore the historic fishing village of La Boquilla, once a slave colony and home to Afro-Colombian inhabitants. Glide through mangrove tunnels on a traditional wooden canoe, discovering the unique flora and fauna of this ecosystem. The day concludes with a traditional dance workshop, immersing you in the vibrant rhythms of the Caribbean Coast.

After your morning journey, take a private walking tour through the inner walled section of the colonial city. Indulge in authentic local flavors and discover Cartagena like a resident, exploring neighborhoods where locals live, eat, and shop. This culinary journey includes small tastings at various points in the colonial city, providing a genuine taste of Cartagena’s culture and history.  Overnight at Sofitel Santa Clara. 

Day 8 | Cartagena and Baru Beach day trip

Escape to the coastal paradise of Barú! Unwind with gentle breezes, stunning vistas, and soft white sands.  

The trip takes you to Sofitel Calablanca Barú for a fun day at the beach.  It includes access to the beach, beach pool, Bahía restaurant, and Kids Villa. The beach and beach pool area includes the use of sunbeds, towels, bathrooms, and showers. Courtesy use* of non-motorized facilities at the Nautical Center in the beach area from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Kids Villa includes the use of the facilities and activities for children from 3 years of age from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with snacks included. Does not include additional consumption. The Kids Villa schedule varies by day and includes arts and crafts, music, games, water sports, and dancing. Transfer back to the hotel. Overnight at Sofitel Santa Clara.

Day 9 | Cartagena – Departure

Conclude your journey with a private transfer from the hotel to the airport for your flight back to Bogotá, where you’ll connect with your onward flight home (flights not included). Our Spanish-speaking driver and English-speaking guide will ensure a seamless and comfortable transition, allowing you to reflect on the unforgettable experiences and vibrant memories of your time in Colombia.
